Spirituality

Spirituality means different things to different people. In general, it encompasses how we think about ourselves in relation to a greater whole, why we are on this planet, and what we understand ethical behavior to be. “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Thus does the philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin sum up who we are in this lifetime.

For those not interested or willing to talk about the spiritual, we can reframe this statement based on quantum physics: “We are not material beings with some awareness of energy flows. We are energetic beings (wave forms) that learn to function in a material/physical form.” Learning to know ourselves and how we function in this world is, most fundamentally, learning how to work with our individual energy in the context of the vast cosmic energy field of which we are one small interconnected part.
